In India, the tradition of making chapati, an unleavened bread, dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization during the Bronze Age. The simple tradition of crafting this bread includes slapping the dough between one's hands or rolling it out on a round board.
These round, flat plates today can serve as a base for a collection of candles or sculptural artwork. Vintage pieces will always vary in different areas such as size, tone, color, patina and design, depending on the item.
